  1. Great tent on a budget! review by Gearthrasher on 8/4/2017

I got this tent because I needed something that was lightweight and cheap because I was taking my kids on their first backpacking trip. I didn't want to spend a fortune in case they didn't enjoy it. I wasn't expecting much due to the price, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, weight and thoughtful features. It had room for 3 kids but 2 would have been more comfy. Setup and takedown was a breeze. I recomend this as a great beginners backpacking tent.

For the price The FireFox II is a great tent! Got this tent about 2(+) years ago and have used it tons... tent itself still looks brand new. If you are on a budget like I was when I bought this tent then it would be absolutely perfect for you because it's pretty cheap but still has the really high-end features that more expensive tents have. It fits both me and my wife comfortably and the vestibules have plenty of space for our gear. However both me and my wife are pretty short and I am just short enough (5'9) to lay down and sleep comfortably... if I was much taller I would need to sleep diagonally or slightly curl up. I would recommend this tent to Backpackers on a budget, Scouts, or to be used as a starter tent.

    Things I love:
    1. It is super easy and fast to set up. The lightweight full mesh body makes it super light weight and breathable. The mesh is really high quality and I haven't had a single problem with bugs. (definitely a three-season tent).

    2. The detachable rainfly is super easy to put on and take off. I usually just leave it on but if I get a little hot it's super easy to take it off making the tent really breathable. I've been caught in a few storms and the detachable rainfly did its job the bathtub flooring also held up really well against the rain.

    3. The reflection tape on the tent is fantastic and I was really happy to learn that it came with reflective parachute cord guyline which has been super useful and helpful at night.

    4. It has a built-in hook hanging from the ceiling of the tent for your flashlight or Lantern which is really convenient. No need for safety pins.

    5. Love the system for holding the rain fly doors rolled up and open.

    Improvements:
    1. On the rain fly there are two windows that serve in my opinion absolutely no purpose. They Don't Really stay open by themselves and there really isn't anything to make them stay open so they are just kind of slits in the fabric that really doesn't even give you an adequate hole to look through. If the rain and wind were much worse in any of the storms I've been caught in these two windows could have caused real problems because there isn't even any Velcro to keep them shut making it a prime area for water to leak through and drip right onto my face or feet ( I'm planning on adding velcro to mine). Honestly it would just be better to get rid of these windows.

2.The tent wall pockets are awesome. The issue I have is that there are only two pockets on opposite Kitty corners of the tent. I wish there were 4 (one on each corner). The reason I find this annoying is because if both people want to store things by their head neither have to share one of the pockets and reach over one another to get to it or sleep in opposite directions with your feet by others heads so that you each have a pocket otherwise one of you has to store your stuff by your feet which is inconvenient and a pain in the butt to get out in the middle of the night if you need a flashlight or glasses or something.

    3. No ground tarp! I had to buy my own ground tarp/ floor saver (whichever you want to call it) to help extend the life of my tent. Most higher-end tents will come with a ground tarp.

    4. When I originally looked at the storage bag I was really excited because it was built like a dry bag that would be really compressible. It is really compressible but the fabric is crap. I have a small tear in mine that I noticed after using the tent for the first time.
